Hina – The Moon Goddess (Polynesian)

Dear Ones, come and listen to the message I have to tell:

I, Hina, sit in my home within the moon, pounding out the kapa(1) tapestry of life.  This is my gift to each individual; a beautiful weaving of life experiences.  As I am one with the moon and cycle through light and dark, going through the transition of shadow –while shining brightly (even though you may not see me, my light still shines); so too are my weavings of life.  They are filled with light and dark and shadows of transition.  Thus too, is your life.  All are necessary for balance and fullness.  Do not disparage and wail against the dark times in your life – know that they too WILL pass.  A transition of shadow leads back to the light of joy.

When all seems dark and lost, look to me in the Heavens and watch me cycle from new to full to dark and back to new.  Know with surety my cycles are reflected in you and your life.  The dark moon, when I hide myself from the world in rest, is always, always followed by the new moon crescent.  The tiny crescent of light grows steadily to become the full moon’s bright orb.

Even in this time of seemingly economic darkness, there is hope.  There is light.  It will not last forever.  This I promise you, my Dear Ones.  This too shall pass – as all things do.  The silver crescent of a new era is beginning to shine in the twilight of the darkness.

Remember to look upon me and know you can only see my glory when it is dark.  So too, look within the dark of this time – the dark within your life – to see the glory and beauty that resides there.  It is waiting for you to but look and see.  Has this dark economic times engendered new ideas in your for a business?  Have you been given the opportunity to look for work in a different field?  Perhaps even one you’ve wanted to do, but were afraid of making the change?  Have you been blessed to leave an employer who didn’t treat you with respect and honor?  Do you now have the opportunity to find one who will honor you, your skills, and your beautiful addition to the company?

I invite you to look deeper at the events in your life that seem to be the deepest, darkest and be open to the gifts and blessings that are waiting for you to shine your light of perception upon them.  They want to be seen.  They want to shine – but you need to acknowledge them.  And then like me, Hina, in my home within the moon, they will grow from a small crescent, only a glimpse seen at twilight, to a full, beautiful light seen day and night.

My blessings to you, Dear Ones.

Affirmations

Even in the dark times there is the light of blessings and lessons.

I look for the blessings this situation offers me.

I know this too will pass and the cycle of change comes to me in ease and grace.

Notes:  (1) kapa is the Hawaiian art of pounding bark, usually mulberry, into thin strips, bleaching it and then pounding the strips together to make fabric.  To read more on this art which was almost lost to us forever, but revitalized in the 1970’s go to:  www.coffeetimes.com/kapa2.htm    Kapa is related to the Fijian art of Tapa, but the techniques are slightly different.
