The Once and Future Queen of Heaven:  The Goddess Past, Future, and Now

Part 1 (Introduction)

Once upon a time, God was a Woman.  The Supreme Deity who was worshiped and prayed to was The Great Mother.  No, this isn’t a fairy tale.  But it has been buried and hidden by political and religious mechanisms for so long, we think it is.

In our very distant past, from the time humans began to be aware of a concept of Deity we perceived the benevolent nature of Deity as The Great Mother.  She was the creator, the regenerative power of life, and the bestower of fertility in plants, animals, and ourselves.  The sense of a Divine Presence in our lives was expressed as a Loving Mother who cared for Her Children; whether they be human, plant, animal, bird, or mineral.  All was Her creation, and All were to be cared for and were sacred.  The Earth is almost uniformly referred to as Mother Earth or thought to be Feminine in nature.  Even nature itself is called Mother Nature.  This harkens back to the time when The Goddess walked freely in our collective consciousness. 

History doesn’t teach us of this ancient lineage, for it is pre-patriarchy.  Ancient teachings of The Goddess and God are taught as the myths of Greece and Rome, which is fairly recent history in the timeline of The Goddess.  Even in these myths the fullness of The Great Mother has been diluted by the usurpations of the male Deity.  The Goddess has been relegated to the role of inferior with less power than the more superior ruling Gods.  Story after story is filled with the raping of The Goddess or of other women by The Gods.  Zeus even had the audacity to assume the role of giving birth which has always been – and will always be – the role of the feminine when he gave “birth” to Aphrodite via his forehead! 

In finding ourselves, we look to the past, of what we once were to gain clues of where we can go in the future, and where we are now.  This gives us the opportunities to make changes in our lives to be the person we want to be.  Our now, our present is defined and rooted in our past.  Our future is determined by the choices and actions we take in the present.  This applies to our personal lives, and the life of our society and community. 

As much as those who would have it otherwise, the Feminine Divine is reasserting Herself.  We are seeing a rise in the consciousness of humanity the perception of a Feminine Face to God.  There has been much effort to remove and delete Her from human consciousness and replace Her with a Male and only One God; however, She is a constant force of the Nature of this world and cannot be removed, only hidden.  It is time She came out of hiding.  But in the process of hiding, She has changed in subtle ways.  The ancient ways of The Great Mother are not the ways of the Future Daughter.  This is “Eva-lution”.  The growth and expansion of all things, including The Divine.

To understand the coming New Age of The Daughter, we must look to the past Age of The Great Mother, and apply these lessons to our Now.  The Now, our present, is the bridge between the past and the future; the Past Age of The Mother to the Future Age of The Daughter.  We are currently in the night of the age of The Son.  The Age of The Father was passed to The Son two millennia ago.  The Dawn of the Age of The Daughter is coming.  Its rays can be felt in the rising consciousness of the Feminine Divine and even in the apparent chaos of the world today.  This is the shifting and changing of energy as the New Age begins and the Old Age dies. 

We must study and understand who The Goddess once was so we may discover who She will be and how we can enrich our lives with Her presence in our now.  We can read and study the stories of Her many faces that have survived, some only fragments.  We can attune to Her energies and get guidance from Her.  We can discover through our intuition and genetic memories new, remembered, information and stories about Her.  We can gather together to Honor and Celebrate Her, and to commune with Her in community.

Why is this important?  It is important to bring the energy and frequencies of The Goddess into our lives to become more balanced.  We, and our society, are out of balance with the loss of the Feminine Divine and with only the Masculine Divine being seen and felt.  Both must be present for balance and completeness.  It is important to learn how to have such qualities such as strength without control, love without pain, and power without dominance.  These are the ways of The Goddess.  Her ways are always the pathway of cooperation, of partnership, of co-creation.  This creates harmony, balance, and synergy in our lives.  In addition, beyond gaining an understanding of the age which is approaching, we have the opportunity to help be its architects.  We can only do that if we know and have a foundation of the past to build upon.
